Reliance claims NetConnect has speeds upto 3.1 Mbps and is 20 times faster than the normal internet.

Cost:

Modem Cost: 3,500

Whatever they claim it to be, the USB modem is little costlier. The USB is nothing but a CDMA modem which has a preinstalled drivers and software in it. It is very attractive and handy.

Speed:

Reliance claims it to have speeds of upto 3.1 Mbps. Believe me, I did get the amazing speed. No disconnections and download average of 120 kbps. No buffering in media rich sites. Open an Youtube video and you can watch the video immediately without waiting for it to buffer.

But then, the speed slowly started decreasing. It started connecting at 230kbps and no more 3.1 Mbps. Disconnections every five minutes. Even though my signal strength has been 98% – 99% all the time. I called up the support regarding this and found that its just the HSD & CDMA settings that caused the issue. I set it up and now its fine.

I have personally used Airtel, Sify and Hathway and so far Reliance has been unbelievably the best. What more, its just an USB and you can take it anywhere. I travel frequntly and it has been trust worthy so far.

Customer Support:

One of the worst. Reliance has most of its customer service in North India and you can hardly understand what they speak. When you mention about disconnections or slow speed all that they say is a technical assistant will get back to you. He infact gets back but with no resolution.

Reliance Billing Support starts calling you atleast 10 days before due date reminding you to better pay the bill on time. Again the voice looks like some local rowdy speaking.

Plans:

Plans look a little reasonable cost wise. However, all the plans have a download limit. Anything above the download limit will be charged heavily. Even with restricted download limits the speed and disconnections happening with NetConnect at 99% signal range is highly frustrating.
