Indian Evangelist Bro. DGS Dinakaran, well known in India and among Christian community all over the world, died at a private hospital today following a brief illness.
He was 74 and was admitted to the Apollo Hospital on January 29 2008 due to heart and kidney illness. DGS Dinakaran founded the “Jesus Calls” ministry and made it familiar worldwide having locations throughout the globe. He is also the founder of “Karunya Institute of Technology” famous for its high standard education and lab facilities. It was voted as one of the best institutes to study at. The Institute was made a Deemed University few years back.
The evangelist passed away at 6:30 AM IST with his family members beside him. He was from the state of TN in India.
The state Chief Minister, M Karunandhi was among the first to place a wreath on the body and pay homage to the departed missionary.
While speaking to the press, Chief Minister Karunanidhi recalled his long association with Bro. Dinakaran and said he was deeply shocked on hearing the news of the evangelist death. He mentioned, “Lakhs of people used to throng his meetings to hear his speech. Today, he has departed leaving all those people in tears,” and the Chief Minister expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
He is survived by his wife, a son and three grand children. His daughter, Angeline passed away in a road accident many years back. Millions of Christians around the world are deeply shocked and heart broken hearing the news of his death.”
