Army personnel enteredTrident (formerly Oberoi Hotel) in South Mumbai to flush out terrorists.
Earlier, the army was on asked to be on alert to help the civil administration control the situation arising out of the terror attacks in Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said.
“We have told the army to be on alert. Whenever we require them, we will call them”, he told.
Six Army columns have been deployed in South Mumbai.
Terrorists struck at India’s financial capital late tonight as at least five near-simultaneous firings and explosions rocked areas in the vicinity of posh hotels in South Mumbai, leaving 15 persons dead and more than 10 injured.
Armed with AK-47 rifles and grenades, a couple of terrorists entered the passenger hall of crowded Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal (CST) and Taj Hotel, railway station and opened fire and threw grenades.
