The new Macbook Air is priced at $999 lesser than the previous models. The keyboards are much better with island-style keyboards that are raised providing better action and feel. The storage is now doubled with 256GB being the minimum. This is great as many users will have difficulty micromanaging storage and wasting precious hours every often.
Display
The display is the same with 13.3 inch LED-backlit IPS display with native resolution as 2560 x 1600. The Macbook Air also features a Touch ID sensor.
Processor
The Macbook Air comes with two options. 1.1GHz dual-core Intel Core i3, Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz, with 4MB L3 cache which is configurable to 1.1GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz, with 6MB L3 cache or1.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz, with 8MB L3 cache
You can also choose a 1.1GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz, with 6MB L3 cache which can be configurable to 1.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz, with 8MB L3 cache.
Storage:
There are two storage options; 256GB and 512GB. 256GB being the starter. This is great as unless you are a musician, gamer or a graphics editor, you will not really require a 1 TB drive.
Memory:
The memory has not been increased with 8GB being the minimum and configurable upto 16GB.
Cons:
The laptop still carries a 720p webcam and its clarity looks similar to a 6 year old smartphone camera. A premium product should support a 1080p camera.
The Core i3 10th Generation looks kind of the latest version. However, when you go for the $999 version, you get the dual-core Intel Core i3 which certainly is not premium configuration. Upgrading to Core i5 is just $100 but when you look at upgrading to 16GB RAM, then you are pretty close to the higher end Macbook Pro models which start at $1299.
