John Muller referred to an update on Webmaster Central Blog in March titled, “Continuing to make the web more mobile friendly”, the article mentions the points they are focusing:
- Get best answer possible whether the user is on a phone, tablet or desktop
- Help users find even more pages that are relevant and mobile-friendly
If you already have a mobile-friendly website, this update would not impact you.
Google has been quite frequently updating its mobile-friendly algorithm. The previous one was on April 21,2015 and the results started showing from the beginning of May.
The results would not be immediately seen as this update is a page-by-page algorithm. As we know, Google takes time to crawl each page based on its importance. So, sites may take anywhere from a week to even two months to see the difference in search results.
It is now pretty clear that a mobile-friendly site is a must. Google has provided Mobile-Friendly Test and the Webmaster Mobile Guide both can assist you in making your website mobile-friendly.
